If you see the red and blue lights flashing, find a safe place to pull
over and take a few deep breaths. Being angry or argumentative can only
worsen the situation. Once you've quickly collected yourself, turn on
the interior light, turn off the engine, roll down the window and keep
your hands on the wheel.
Have your driver's license, registration and insurance card ready if the
police officer requests to see them. You have the right to refuse an
officer's request to search you or your vehicle, but if the officer
believes there is evidence of a crime within the vehicle, it is subject
to search without consent. Remember: You and your passenger(s) have the
right to remain silent.
